Lisa began her professional career in the field of healthcare benefits after graduating from Bates College with a degree in Economics. Gaining experience in the fields of actuarial analysis and stop-loss underwriting for insurers and re-insurers, she went on to apply her acquired skills working as a consultant for a major international brokerage and consulting firm, providing financial analysis of clients’ healthcare plans and proposing cost and risk minimizing alternatives. Her specialty was in the self-funded and partially self-funded Medical, Dental and Short-Term Disability market, working with clients whose employees numbered between 150 and 1,000 lives. With her background in underwriting, she was able to assess the potential risk levels of her clients and effectively negotiate the most favorable funding and rating terms with carriers. Lisa worked closely with her clients’ human resource personnel to design, implement and communicate the most cost-effective benefits programs for their company.
